High-index thin lenses
High-index lenses are made from a material that bends light more, so they can be thinner and lighter than standard plastic lenses for the same prescription.
Who they suit
- People with a strong prescription, where standard lenses look thick and heavy.
- People who want a lighter pair of glasses for all-day wear.
Good to know
- The higher the index number (for example 1.60, 1.67 or 1.74), the thinner the lens. Ask us which indexes are available for your prescription.
- The benefit is largest for strong prescriptions. For a weak prescription, standard lenses are usually enough.
- Frame choice matters. A smaller frame uses less lens and makes the edge thinner.
